Congregational Life and Outreach Committee Minutes
Tuesday, April 13, 2010 7:00 p.m.
MINUTES
Present: Carissa Brealey-Rood, Larry Felhauer, Pat Felhauer, Kathy Story, Bea Connor, Collette Waltz
I. Bingo Night
a. Will take place May 1st from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
b. Larry got a computer program that generates random Bingo numbers; we will project his computer screen on the overhead screen.
c. Kathy made a check-off sheet for the recorder. Carissa will do this.
d. Larry has asked Mel Parish to be caller. Mel has agreed to do it if he’s in town – Larry will follow up with him.
e. Kathy suggest a “black out” for the last game with a special prize.
f. Each player, including children, will be asked to bring a wrapped white elephant gift as a prize. Separate prizes for children.
g. Committee will provide finger foods. Carissa will shop for these. Pat will make ice tea.
h. Larry will put an ad in the Good News, bulletin, etc.
i. Carissa will get with Mark about setting up the projector and microphone.
j. Arrive ~5:15 p.m.
II. Egg Hunt
a. The Easter Egg Hunt went very well.
b. Larry wrote up notes in a separate document to reference in the future.
III. Banners
a. We are going to have 3 chain link fence poles installed out front of the church, and we will be able to wrap large banners around then such that they’ll be visible from both directions on Boutz.
b. Hobby Lobby has blank vinyl patches we can put over the dates on banners, and then we can put stick-on vinyl letters/numbers with correct dates.
IV. Vow Renewal
a. Will take place on 6/26, time TBD.
b. Larry will get an ad out right away, and include Norm’s e-mail & phone. Norm would like to meet with any couple interested in participating in the ceremony.
c. The committee will provide cake, punch, nuts, etc.
V. Graduation
a. Larry will put out a note in the bulletin/Good News asking for names of this spring’s graduates so they can be recognized next month.
b. Our committee will host fellowship on graduation Sunday, 5/23, and provide cake and punch.
i. Bea will order the cake at Albertsons
ii. We will trade our assigned 5/30 fellowship date for the 23rd.
VI. Hymn Sing
a. Will take place after church on 5/16
b. Carissa will contact Winnie Quinzi to see if she’s interested in playing keyboard for this event again this year.
c. The committee will provide main dishes and breads.
i. Chicken, tuna and egg salads
ii. Rolls and pita bread
iii. Chips
iv. Drinks
d. The congregation should bring side dishes and desserts.
e. No fellowship that Sunday.
f. We will set up before church that day.
g. Via e-mail Kathy pointed out that last year we hosted this event in the courtyard, but it is off limits this year. Larry suggested the parking area north of the sanctuary near the playground, which has been used for the Salt & Light tailgate dinners.
