MUSIC &
WORSHIP MINISTRY TEAM
March
13, 2012 – MEETING MINUTES
Attendance:
Gena Breck, Florence Hamilton, Lloyd Kirschenmann, David Klement, Wayne
Maley, Neil Moe, Jacque Parks, Jim Parks, Greg Sherman, Norm Story,
Excused:
Harry Topley, Marsha Topley
The meeting was
opened at 7:08 PM by Greg Sherman with prayer and meditation on spending
time in prayer.
Minutes of the
February 14, 2012 meeting were accepted as distributed. The agenda was
adopted. The moderator handed out a list of assignments for
Opening Prayer/Meditation, and requested all to volunteer for open
dates.
Budget information
with current expenses was received in time to distribute before the
meeting. It was observed that the Designated Account for “Music
Ministry & Chancel Choir” no longer has a balance shown on 12/31/11 and
funds that should be there appear to have been moved to “Organ-Overhaul
Reserve.”
SESSION REPORT:
It is requested that Session concur with this motion:
A motion was made by Greg, seconded and
voted: No funds are to be transferred from one designated category to
another without the express consent of the Team Moderator.
We were assured that
corrections have been made for some line item names. It was agreed
that “Worship Service Supplies” does include communion bread and juice,
cups, gluten free packets and supplies for children’s activity bags.
This line item would not be nearly enough dollars without in-kind
contributions of communion helpers.
All music groups are
working toward special Holy Week/Easter services. The Worship &
Music Opportunities for Lent brochure was handed out Sunday with
encouragement for members to distribute widely to their contacts.
It can also be read and downloaded from our web site:
www.musicatfirstpresbyterian.org
For the Sunday after
Easter, April 15, special music is being prepared by the Salt & Light
choirs as their final worship offering for this spring. On the
last Salt & Light, April 11, Faith and Fellowship band will provide
music for the tailgate dinner.
A new drummer, Isaac
Rivera, has joined with Faith and Fellowship for the Saturday evening
services.
The team discussed
“dead time” during services. Concerns were expressed about
preparation of participants, late start of service, interference with
prelude when there is no gathering place and shortening prelude time if
started late.
Marsha sent a report
that palms have been ordered. She is working with decorator
Mariann Novack on flowers for Easter, and with Linda for memorial/honor
order information.
SESSION REPORT:
Communion was served to 280 on March 3,4 (Includes 22 at Faith &
Fellowship) In addition communion was served to 158 during the
Presbytery service in our sanctuary on February 17.
For Maundy Thursday
the east section, and east side of south section will be closed for
better viewing of the art projections. Communion will be served by
intinction at the west, and west side of the south sections and choir.
Worship support
people are scheduled through April for young disciple leaders,
liturgists, and sound operators.
Future Team
responsibilities:
April 5
Maundy Thursday communion service (by intinction)
April 8
