Minutes of April 13, 2010 Meeting

 

The meeting was opened with prayer at 7:05 p.m.

 

PRESENT: Moderator Alex Burr, Richard Paul, Bob Taylor, and Rosemary Maddox

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES: The minutes of the March 6th meeting were approved, subject to correction of the spelling of Lloyd Kirschenmann's name.

 

DISTRIBUTION OF COMMUNICATIONS: Correspondence was distributed to the appropriate Missions Team members.

 

PEACEMAKING SEMINAR: Alex has contacted a retired rabbi about participating in the seminar, but as yet has not received a response.

 

MISSION BOOKLET: Alex will undertake to reformat the text of the Mission Booklet to fit in the space available. He needs pictures or maps in computer-readable form.

 

ONE GREAT HOUR OF SHARING SPECIAL OFFERING: The final report is not yet in. The fine Minute for Missions about the offering by Blaine Goss was noted.

 

PENTECOST OFFERING, MAY 23rd: Alex will write an article for The Lantern, and will contact absent Team members by email about giving a Minute for Missions.

 

MISSIONS QUILT: Jean O'Neill has made and donated to the Missions Team a quilted world map with buttons designating the locations of missions and missionaries supported by First Presbyterian Church. Plans were made to display the map during Fellowship Hour on May 16th.

 

FELLOWSHIP HOUR, MAY 16TH: Alex will be out of town on that date and thus will not be able to take charge of Fellowship Hour. He will recruit Missions Team volunteers by email to set up, serve and clean up.

 

VISIT OF REV. AMY ROBINSON ON MAY 16TH: Rev. Robinson has expressed interest in speaking to us about Pasos de Fe, and has set May 16th as a tentative date. Alex will speak with Lloyd, who is on the Board of Pasos de Fe, about convening the meeting in his absence.
