MISSION MINISTRY TEAM

Minutes of September 12, 2010 Meeting

The meeting was opened with prayer at 7:00 p.m.

PRESENT: Moderator Alex Burr, Janice Sherman, Rosemary Maddox, Lloyd Kirschenmann, Bob Taylor, Blaine Goss, and Rusty Smith.

DISTRIBUTION OF COMMUNICATIONS: Profit & Loss Budget Performance reports for Mission Benevelonces and Salt & Light were distributed. Also distributed were copies of the September/October edition of "Mission Frontiers." The edition theme is "Making Jesus Known: Native Americans Lead the Way in Reaching Their Own People." Alex commented on the need for a separation between culture and theology where Native Americans are concerned.

PEACEMAKING OFFERING, OCTOBER 3: This is one of four special offerings in which we participate. All the materials, including Bulletin insert envelopes, are here. Alex will write an article for The Lantern and Janice will give a Minute for Missions on October 3rd.

MISSION BOOKLET: Alex has taken pictures at the Community of Hope Campus and the Gospel Rescue Mission for inclusion in the Booklet. He went to the Southern New Mexico Correctional Intitution to take pictures for KAIROS but was refused permission to do so.

PASOS DE FE: Rev. Amy Robinson is available to come and talk to us about Pasos de Fe on October 24; however, the Deacons' Hamburger Fry is scheduled for that Day. Alex will find out if she can come on October 31st and if so, will put her visit on the calendar.

PRAYER GROUP FOR MEXICO: Jean O'Neill has started a prayer group which will meet Sunday mornings before services to pray for the seven Presbyterian Churches in Juarez, and for Juarez in general. Meetings will be held in the small room in the office. Everyone is welcome.

OTHER ITEMS: Blaine reported that the Lyttons have moved to Hong Kong because Kim's health has suffered due to the pollution in Beijing. They both have found employment there but Blaine did not know the nature of their work.

Bob had been informed that John Haspel is not available for a visit in the foreseeable future.

Doug Barron should know by next month what his new assignment will be.

ADJOURNMENT: The meeting was adjourned with prayer at 7:37 p.m.
