Review of Sharon Black's "Deeply Rooted"

The following is a review of Sharon Black's story, "Deeply Rooted" which appears in Hadrosaur Tales 8

Sharon Black's "Deeply Rooted" is a romantic fable disguised as science fiction. A theme of universal longing for love and affection can only be fulfilled through a morbid transformation in this tale. For Black's idealized characters to find true happiness with each other they must become trees in a fictitious municipal park. The narrator's tone comes through as irritated by the world and unsatisfied that he cannot find love in a place filled with immortal lovers.

"Deeply Rooted" reviewed by John Wiehl.
