I like this casino.
particularly the Route 66 theme. More so than most other casinos,
the theme permeates the facility, even including the carpet, which
looks like a blacktop road. There are Route 66 signs and logos
everywhere, inside and out. The staff is very friendly and
accommodating, and the action lively, with a large number of slot
machines and table games. The casino has a nice buffet, a
restaurant, and even a Route 66 gift store. A big downside (for us
token collectors) is that all of the machines are TITO. But for the
frugal gambler, there is a wide selection of penny slots.
I think this casino, right off the heavily traveled Interstate 40,
will definately thrive. If you are in the Albuquerque area,
take about an hour's drive west on I-40, and visit the
Route 66 Casino (and the Sky City Casino a few more miles down the
road.) Also in the same area is the Dancing Eagle Casino. And don't forget the
Casino Express, right next door to the Route 66 Casino.
By the way, the historic old Route 66 actually does pass through the
area. The casino is on the south side of I-40. Route 66 is on the
north side.
But don't
spend all of your time in the casinos. In the same general area are
several natural wonders and attractions - The
El Malpai Lave beds,
El Morro
National Monument,
Sky
City, and breathtaking sandstone cliffs and mesas. If you have
the time and are adventuresome, about 100 miles away is the
Bisti Badlands, a really eerie place, and
the
Chaco Ruins. If you can, spend a couple of days
in the area. It will be well worth the effort!
