Sky City Casino, Acoma Pueblo

Sky City Casino expanded its facility a couple of years ago,  which was sorely  needed, because of the crowds. As with the Laguna Pueblo casinos, Sky City is right off the heavily traveled Interstate 40.  From my observation, it's very popular with the long haul truckers. I have never seen so many big rigs in one parking lot!  (Fortunately, the 18 wheelers have their own parking area.)  The casino has a mix of slot machines and table games, a small but nice buffet, and the staff is very helpful and cooperative.  When I was looking for good samples of their initial chip issue, the cage manager must have gone through several hundred to find a couple of good ones. It may be wishful thinking on my part, but I think Sky City's slots are a little more generous than many of the others.   If you plan to visit the Sky City Casino, remember that there are two other casinos within a short drive of Sky City Casino (Dancing Eagle and Route 66). Actually, I would highly recommend a couple of days in the area!  But don't spend all of your time in the casinos.  In the same general area are several natural wonders and attractions - the El Malpai Lave beds, El Morro National Monument, Sky City, and breathtaking sandstone cliffs and mesas.  If you have the time and are adventuresome, about 100 miles away is the Bisti Badlands, a really eerie place, and  the Chaco Ruins.  The entire area is well worth a visit!
