I wanna talk a little about

Brian Eno and David Byrne

These guys put out an amazing record a few years ago, called

My Life in the Bush of Ghosts.

It was good music, good art, and danceable even!

OK. As I was saying, My Life in the Bush of Ghosts. It's the title of a strange book by an African author who learned English as an adult. It has absolutely nothing to do with the music. Except that it and the music are both very far out, maybe far-and-a-half out.

The music on this record, or should I say the material, uses a lot of sounds garnered from all over -- including voices of a muezzin, a talk show guest, and the last piece on the record being an exorcism. Funny thing about that one. I played the entire record on the radio late one night (probably the same era as the item mentioned on my Zappa page), including the exorcism. That having been done, it didn't need to be done again? At any rate, that last cut never played through again. Hmmm.
