Hi
there!
Hope you and your kin
are doing fine.
I spent some time at the library the other evening and found these. I
don't
know if you already have this info but here goes.
Our records carry 22 Dec 1801
as the
marriage
date of John Adam Baer and Anna Margaretha Heilman,
right?
In Lehigh County Hilffrich Pastoral Records, it states Anna Margaretha
married John Adam Bahr on 5 Feb 1805. It was a private wedding
in
someone's home and the church's pastor performed the
ceremony. Don't know
which I should take as correct.
Gideon Baer had two
sisters. Lydia--born
26 Mar 1812 in Lehigh County, PA, and Maria--born 5 Feb
1814 same
place.
Couldn't find the girls in a
census,
so I began
checking births/deaths in PA and IA...Finally located a Lydia E.
Bear who
died 25 Mar 1864 and was buried in the Washington County
Cemetery. Maybe
she never married and came south to IA to be near her brother?
Take care,
Veda

Nellie

to have dropped the "i" in her name after the marriage) was born

An
auto mechanic! And he is clearly well-traveled, having left tracks all
through this census: Texas to Iowa to South Dakota back to Texas to
Oklahoma and back to Texas. (By the way, Ancestry.com understandably
mistranscribed this enumerator's poor handwriting as "Refeal", so type this in if you're
using Ancestry to locate this).

I'm
not sure at all how to transcribe her first name. Maybe we'll see it
better in the 1920 SD census.

This
is much clearer, and I'm pretty sure Ardelle is correct.

This
Cecil C. is probably a Jr., so we'll call him that for now.

This
is Nellie's father, Henry Thomas, who is most likely widowed, not
married, I think.

Hannah
states here that she's married, not widowed or separated, yet Everett
is nowhere to be seen. Ah, now we've found him in SD, working as a
salesman; perhaps the Great Depression has settled in on the family,
and he's sent his family back to Iowa to live with her parents until
they can make ends meet again.

Here
he is, still in SD and working as a gasoline salesman; perhaps
the Great Depression has settled in on the family, and he's sent his
family back to Iowa to live with her parents until they can make ends
meet again. |
