My first cousin once removed, Mr. Roscoe C. Keeney, Jr., is the resident genealogist in this family (as well as in the Paxton family--web page not yet started). Retired from a brilliant teaching career, he now resides in Charleston, West Virginia. He has pastored a Baptist church, authored several books on family and church history and genealogy, and until recently continued to research, write, edit, and mail Keeney Update--its twentieth year now well behind us--which was an ongoing and periodic addendum to his book, 2,597 Keeney Relatives (McClain Printing Co., Parsons, WV, 1978).

The material on these Keeney pages starts with the 1978 book which has been updated numerous times, not the least of which is a special issue of March 1987 entitled Keeney Update: 1,029 Stires Keeney Descendants. Thanks for your patience in waiting for me to get this information updated and onto this subsite.

Some of the pages linked to this page still may have a few items of erroneous information on them, but that's my fault, not Roscoe's. I'm still working on getting them fixed. Thanks again for being patient.

[John M. Gwin Note: I recently realized that Roscoe's starting his numbering with the first generation in America would require that we use negative numbers as older generations were discovered. And so I began revamping all my pages' numbers, arbitrarily using my own generation as #28, as the note at the top in red states. An exception is this page, where I did this revamping but left Roscoe's number intact as well (in parentheses), the former preceding the latter here.]
