HERO'S EMAIL

BELOW IS A EMAIL THAT I RECEIVED FROM DWAYNE IN IRAQ.  HIS JOB IN THE MARINES IS EOD = EXPLOSIVES, ORDNANCE AND DEMOLITION.  IN REALITY A BOMB DISPOSAL MARINE...  THIS IS A DEMANDING JOB AND DWAYNE SAYS HE LOVE'S IT. THIS IS WHAT HE WROTE TO ME IN AN EMAIL ON 30 MAY 05.

The other day we were out on a Improvised Explosive Device (IED) call.  Without getting into specifics we were tasked to dispose of this device so this road could be continued to be used.  We arrived and did our thing as you can see by the hole.  But once we approached to verify everything was safe and to take pictures for intelligence, I found another device set as a trap for us, I yelled IED so others could run.  I dove on the item and analyzed the initiation system and disabled by hand while others took cover. All this happen so fast within seconds before the bomber could initiate his device from a far.  Four Marines including myself were within the blast radius of this item.  The Lord Is good.  My unit maybe submitting me for a Bronze Star w/ Combat V for Valor.  That’s the second time I had to do that since I’ve been here.  Let’s just say I had to change my underwear after that yet again.  I should have access to email more often so I will send more pictures  and video.
