Zatanna
The daughter of the world-famous
magician, Zatara—and his protégé—
In his life, Zatara had traveled
all over the globe, delighting and astounding audiences, confounding critics
and winning world-wide fame.
For in addition to the arts
of prestidigitation and legerdemain, he practiced the art of true magic,
passed down to him by his father before him—the knowledge of spells and
how to properly perform the incantations that would bend the natural world
to his will.
He passed along these arts
to his daughter, Zatanna. He raised her alone after the death of
his wife, and he did his best to protect her from the enemies he had made
in his life. But when he was killed, Zatanna was faced with the realization
that her father had made more than human enemies. She was forced
to use the powers her father taught her to not only protect herself, but
civilians caught in the crossfire, when the demonic forces that killed
her parents came after her. After defeating them and ending their
threat, Zatanna continued to use her powers to protect humanity against
supernatural harm.
Now, Zatanna herself travels
the country and the world, taking up her father’s profession as a performing
magician, winning fame in her own right. Along the way, she involves
herself in mysteries and strange crimes, confronting super-villains she
never knew existed, and living up to the destiny her father bestowed upon
her in passing on the magic of their ancestors.
