There are some loose court records in Winchester, TN, I need to check out.  This might tell me something, if some were adopted, etc.  I think (not 100%) sure my direct line.  I think he was either dad or grandad of my Elias Henderson Guinn who was in CSA cavalry.

I was told my line was John Talley Guinn b. 1726 ??, John Guinn b. 1800, Elious Henderson and down the line.  Unless Sally who lived alone in Lincoln Co was John's wife and he either left or died I think Champion is the dad because he moved with the other Guinns.

Kathy, my Isham Gwin was already in Indiana by 1820. He had owned 249 acres of land in Crowson's Cove, (also known as the Wear Valley) in Sevier Co., TN, and had kept slaves to run it.  But he hated slavery and preached against it (he was a Baptist preacher), and finally he freed his own slaves, sold his land, and moved to Harrison Co., IN, because it was a free state and there would be no slavery. Of course, his wife Mary and many of their own children and their families moved with him--Polly and her her husband Tom Walker, Elizabeth and her husband David Denton, Virginia Jane and her husband Mr. Tipton, and all of his younger, unmarried children: Richard W., Nancy, Sarah, and Manerva, all four of whom would marry in Indiana. But at least two (and we think probably three) of his other children evidently disagreed with their father and moved to Alabama so they could keep slaves--for sure William and his wife Susanah and John and his wife Jane, but we think a son Chesley, also.

The bottom line, then, is that your Isham of Lincoln Co., TN, and my Isham are--and have to be--two different people.

This Champion would probably have to be the son of the Champion in Burke/Wilkes Co., NC, Washington Co., TN.  since he was was married and had son by 1787.  Maybe Isham was his oldest and then the others his younger ones.

Then his family was in Jackson Co., AL. Your info had a Champe Carter McCulloch in it. Could he have been named from him?  I also am looking for John Guinn who I was told was my direct line but I am having trouble finding him. Could Champion be a nickname? Any help appreciated.

and probably get it on loan.  It does not have much about Guinns that I recall except to say William Guinn from Stevenson was a blacksmith from VA.

My relative, now dec'd many years, said his granddad told him stories of his grandad and william hiding behind a rock wall from the gunfire from civil war.

Isham is found in 1820 Lincoln Co., TN Census.  Also Champion, Daniel, Sally and others.

Probably younger Champ?? Also in 1838 and around that time Champion Guinn was always having to go to court here and pay fines?  He was usually with some with last name Willliams.
 

Would also like to know who Polly Guinn md Issac Blanton  Dec. 27, 1821 in Mogan Co., AL Was she kin to these.  I think her name was Mary "Polly"

Guin wills to sons John and Wm. all lands to be divided between them, land adjoins Elijah Guin to fence that divides my land from John Guin's and the son's to take their mother to live with one or the other of them and both support her.  To son Elton $30.00, son Elijah, Ezekial, Elias, dau. Mary 5 shillings each.  Found in Book 7  1808-1816 pg. 467  2-18-1814 proved 11-1814--I think Granville Co., NC??   There is one Ezekeal age 16/26 in Sumner Co., TN in 1820 Others were John, Isaac, Edwin? Jr., James, James Jr.

Isham Guinn is in Lincoln Co., TN, in 1820 with Champion, Daniel, William and Sally. He has some young kids and his age was 26 to 45. Would this be the right age??
 
Is this the same Isham or have you any knowledge of these people?  In Franklin Co, TN, and Jackson Co., AL, later I think.  I am almost sure William Guinn in Jackson Co., AL 1850-60 was from VA.

I saw your info about Isham/Isom Guinn. 

I have been trying to find Champion Guinn's family, he was b. probably NC/TN in about 1760-70 as he md Dorcus Williams in Wilkes/Burke Co., NC later Washington Co., TN then later another county because of boundary changes. 

Later he was in Franklin Co., TN about 1830-50 I forgot.

Then his family was in Jackson Co., AL. 

Your info had a Champe Carter McCulloch in it. 

Could he have been named from him. 

I also am looking for John Guinn who I was told was my direct lin but I am having trouble finding him. 

Could Champion be a nickname? 

Champion had a son/grandson (hard to tell for sure) Elious/Elias Henderson Guinn/Guin. 

Elias had a brother William Guin who came from VA and was a blacksmith. 

They lived in Stevenson, AL in about 1860-80 maybe.

Any info appreciated.  The Guinns not only are mixed up I think but spell name so many ways.

I saw an old post I had made and you said to send what I had on Champion.  I don't remember if I ever did that or not so here it is.  I hope you can fit him in somewhere.

Mrs Uriah
I think this was a younger Champion but not sure or maybe he moved back and forth.  It is very close to Jackson Co., AL.

One John T. Guinn was in Washington Co., TN Roll #535 at the time.
Do you have info on him and is he related to Champion??  Was he brother??

There was a Champion Guinn  3 M under 10,  2 M 10/16 and 2 M 16/26 in Lincoln Co. TN 1820
This was the younger Champion but was he son to Champion Sr.?

Daniel.........16/26,
Isham...........26/45, and
William......16/26

Also, do you know who the John Guinn was who md Emily L. Shryock Nov. 4, 1822  wit. Daniel Guinn  in Carter co. TN?
One older man said there was a Scurlock in the family who md John Guinn, this comes as close as I can find but do not know anymore about John and Emily.

Probably younger Champ?? Also in 1838 and around that time Champion Guinn was always having to go to court here and pay fines?  He was usually with some with last name Willliams.
 

Would also like to know who Polly Guinn md Issac Blanton  Dec. 27, 1821 in Mogan Co., AL Was she kin to these.  I think her name was Mary "Polly"

Wm. Guin wills to sons John and Wm. all lands to be divided between them, land adjoins Elijah Guin to fence that divides my land from John Guin's and the son's to take their mother to live with one or the other of them and both support her.  To son Elton $30.00, son Elijah, Ezekial, Elias, dau. Mary 5 shillings each.  Found in Book 7  1808-1816 pg. 467  2-18-1814 proved 11-1814--I think Granville Co., NC??   There is one Ezekeal age 16/26 in Sumner Co., TN in 1820 Others were John, Isaac, Edwin? Jr., James, James Jr.

Also, sorry to ask so many question, but do you know who the 1870 Jackson Al census Long Island guinns were?
