Elva grew up in Las Cruces, NM and speaks fluent Spanglish!   She began her Federal career at White Sands Missile Range as a co-op student during her senior year in high school.  She was employed as a clerk-typist with ARMTE after high school graduation.  Over the next 12 years, she was employed as a secretary, Word Processing Specialist and an Editorial Assistant with Department of Defense (DOD).

After completing the ADP intern program in 1983, she spent the last 15 years of Federal service where, she was employed in a professional capacity as a Computer Programmer, Programmer Analyst and Computer Specialist with DOD at WSMR, NM.

In 1998, Elva took the "early-out" incentive after 27 years of Federal service.

Other Employment & Hobbies

NMSU

Elva returned to the workforce in July 2002 where she was employed as a Data Resources Coordinator with Molecular Biology.  She served as the webmaster in support of the Score, CDC and Bridges program websites.

In August 2007, she accepted a position as a Systems Analyst at NMSU where she was employed until December 2015. She especially enjoyed utilizing her Linux skills and setting up 26 Drupal "NMSU Themed" websites.

As a hobby, she enjoys amateur photography, web design and dabbling with Photoshop.

Elva recently became involved as a volunteer with a nonprofit organization to assist with their WordPress website.

However, nothing beats being a new grandmother!  Rick and I became first-time grandparents on July 4, 2015 with the birth of our first grandchild, baby Levin.
