Sort of funny and fairly bloody, but not bloody enough to be a caricature of violence, JABBA THE HUTT: THE ART OF THE DEAL is probably one of the more lackluster Dark Horse titles. Bringing together four previously published comics--THE GAAR SUPPOON HIT, THE HUNGER OF PRINCESS NAMPI, THE DYNASTY TRAP, and BETRAYAL--this collection is an exercise in Jabba worship, a worthy pursuit to be sure but one deserving of more inspired hands. True to its title, the plot line revolves around Jabba's byzantine wheeling and dealing, but the clumsy writing and cartoony art end up making the Hutt look more silly than sinister. Before the events of A NEW HOPE, Darth Vader employs the galaxy's greatest bounty hunter, Boba Fett, on a mission to discover and bring to Vader a single small box, the contents of which could change the fate of the galaxy. But there's a catch: Vader trusts no one, and the truth of the box's mystery is too important to allow the bounty hunter to live! And so, when Fett retrieves the prize, he finds himself the target of more of Vader's thralls, and finally, in confrontation with the Dark Lord of the Sith himself!
